Langkawi Targets Global Tourists with Major Events in 2025

LANGKAWI: Foreign tourists, comprising 60% of arrivals, continue to drive Langkawi’s tourism, outpacing locals, said Langkawi Development Authority CEO Datuk Haslina Abdul Hamid at LIMA 2025. To counter declining local interest, LADA is promoting unique experiences through international events like the Royal Regatta, Sail Malaysia, and Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta. The 10th Ironman triathlon aims for over 3,000 participants, while the Langkawi International Half Marathon drew 6,500 registrants. Upcoming events include a school soccer tournament, a seven-a-side rugby competition, and a 2026 tennis event, reinforcing Langkawi’s global appeal.
