LGE Praises Federal Comrade for Securing Key Penang Infrastructure Projects

Kuala Lumpur, January 20, 2026 – In a show of gratitude, Lim Guan Eng lauded Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook for his instrumental role in advancing two major federal projects.

Loke successfully obtained Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s approval for the RM16 billion Penang Pearl Line Light Rail, which will traverse Penang Island and Seberang Perai, and the RM1.55 billion expansion of Penang International Airport, Lim wrote on his Facebook account.

Penang Infrastructure Projects

“We must never forget the important contribution of Comrade Lu Zhaofu, Minister of Transport. He successfully secured Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar approval for two major projects of critical importance to Penang.”

The statement emphasizes that while state governments contribute, “the real leader is always the federal government,” with full funding from federal coffers. Critics who overlook Loke’s efforts are called out: “Unfortunately, many people have ignored the key role played by Comrade Lu Zhaofu.”

“The 1.8 million Penang people sincerely thank Comrade Loh and our Prime Minister for securing approval for a number of major projects in Penang and continuing to push these projects forward. Without their efforts, these projects would have stagnated and even started.”

“Just as we have always openly fought the federal government for projects that benefit the people of Penang, we will also support those who are really doing things and producing results, not relying on propaganda machines and political packaging,” Lim wrote. – Photo: LGE/Facebook
