The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has compiled a list of individuals, including government officials, linked to a land encroachment case in Raub, Pahang, dating back over a decade. MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki noted that some implicated officials have retired. The investigation is probing governance failures and why illegal land clearing went unchecked by authorities. A prior 2021 probe into similar issues was nearly complete at the land office level, but the current case involves a new wave of encroachment. Azam highlighted discrepancies in settlers’ claims, noting that some durian trees are only 8-9 years old, contradicting claims of cultivation since 1974. All responsible parties will be summoned for questioning.
