Sixteen individuals have been summoned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) to assist in an expanding investigation into bribery linked to expediting foreign worker applications under the Labour Recalibration Programme (RTK). According to sources, investigators are examining the involvement of several company agents suspected of facilitating the illegal approvals process. The commission expects the investigation papers to be completed by mid-December.
The probe covers offences of soliciting or accepting bribes and offering gratification under Sections 16 and 17 of the MACC Act 2009. SPRM is also investigating possible asset ownership derived from corruption under Section 36, as well as potential violations of Section 165 of the Penal Code involving public servants receiving valuables without consideration.
SPRM Intelligence Division Director Datuk Saiful Ezral Arifin confirmed the latest developments. Earlier, on 12 November, ten enforcement officers and a retiree were arrested in Op Bleach for allegedly accepting payments to accelerate RTK approvals.
