Fahmi wants explanations from all parties in FashionValet losses
The Malaysian Media Council (MMC) Act takes effect on June 14, 2025, coinciding with National Journalists’ Day (Hawana 2025), as announced by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. The Act was symbolically gazetted on this date during the Hawana 2025 event in Kuala Lumpur, themed “Journalism in the New Era: Embracing AI, Safeguarding Ethics.” The event, attended by around 1,000 media practitioners, was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The MMC’s founding board, consisting of 12 members from media companies, associations, practitioners, and independent members, will meet soon to advance the council’s development. Fahmi emphasized the MMC’s role as a lasting platform for media, regardless of future government changes. Hawana 2025, organized by the Communications Ministry with Bernama, celebrates media contributions to national development. National Journalists’ Day is marked on May 29, commemorating the first publication of Utusan Melayu in 1939.
