Malaysia’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at a low 3.0% in October 2025, with 518,900 unemployed persons, according to the Department of Statistics. Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the labour force grew 0.2% month-on-month to 17.58 million, maintaining a participation rate of 70.9%.
Employed persons rose to 17.06 million (+0.2%), led by increases in employees (12.76 million) and own-account workers (3.25 million). Time-related underemployment fell to 0.7%. Mohd Uzir described the labour market as resilient, supported by robust economic activity and strategic investments, forecasting continued positive momentum in the coming months.
