MG Motor Malaysia has officially rolled out the first locally assembled MG S5 EV, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s localisation journey and Malaysia’s growing electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem.
The historic first CKD line-off ceremony took place earlier today at the PEPS-JV (Melaka) assembly facility in Alor Gajah, officiated by Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf bin Yusoh, Chief Minister of Melaka, together with key government representatives and industry partners.
This milestone reflects SAIC Motor Malaysia’s long-term commitment to localisation, strengthening Malaysia’s automotive supply chain, and expanding the country’s role within the regional EV ecosystem. The locally assembled MG S5 EV also introduces improved performance with 151kW power output and 350Nm torque, alongside ultra-fast 150kW DC charging and up to 446km WLTP range.
Bookings for the MG S5 EV are now officially open, with an estimated MSRP of RM120,000, ahead of the vehicle’s official launch in the coming weeks.
