Northport (Malaysia) Bhd has completed its new Block K container yard, significantly enhancing its capacity and efficiency. The facility, completed 51 days ahead of schedule by MMC Engineering, adds 662,256 TEUs to Northport’s total capacity, bringing it to 6.15 million TEUs per annum. The yard will be equipped with 12 environmentally friendly Electrified Rubber Tyred Gantry (E-RTG) cranes, with the first units arriving in December 2024.
This development is part of Northport’s “Reinventing Northport” initiative, aimed at addressing productivity and infrastructure challenges. Northport’s 2024 performance has been strong, with record-breaking container throughput and continued growth in its container business. Northport aims to solidify Port Klang’s position among the world’s top 10 busiest ports by the end of 2024.
