Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, a member of the MMC Group, has signed an agreement with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (ZPMC) to acquire four new Super Post Panamax Quay Cranes. The cranes, featuring advanced capabilities including twin-lift functions and significant lifting capacities, will enhance Northport’s ability to handle larger vessels and boost operational efficiency. Manufacturing begins in December 2024, with delivery expected by Q2 2026, complementing the Wharf 9 upgrade.
The acquisition aligns with Northport’s “Reinventing Northport” programme, aimed at modernizing facilities and infrastructure to meet evolving customer needs and maintain competitiveness in global maritime trade.
