PCG Invests in Largest Advanced Chemical Recycling Plant

PETRONAS Chemicals Group (PCG) has made the final investment decision (FID) to build Asia’s largest advanced chemical recycling plant with a capacity of 33 kilo-tonnes per annum (ktpa) in Pengerang, Johor, expected to be operational by H1 2026. PCG aims to promote a circular plastics economy and support sustainable plastics by converting end-of-life plastics into pyrolysis oil or TACOIL.

The project aligns with Malaysia’s Plastic Sustainability Roadmap 2021-2030, phasing out single-use plastics and meeting demand for sustainable packaging.
