PCG Invests in Largest Advanced Chemical Recycling Plant
PETRONAS Chemicals Group (PCG) has made the final investment decision (FID) to build Asia’s largest advanced chemical recycling plant with a capacity of 33 kilo-tonnes per annum (ktpa) in Pengerang, Johor, expected to be operational by H1 2026. PCG aims to promote a circular plastics economy and support sustainable plastics by converting end-of-life plastics into pyrolysis oil or TACOIL.
The technology will be provided by Plastic Energy, using its TAC process. Mutiara Etnik Sdn. Bhd. will handle the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC). The project aligns with Malaysia’s Plastic Sustainability Roadmap 2021-2030, phasing out single-use plastics and meeting demand for sustainable packaging.
