PepsiCo Partners with TASK to Distribute 1,000 Food Packs to Underserved Students

On October 22, 2024, PepsiCo partnered with The Assembly Soup Kitchen (TASK) to distribute over 1,000 food packs to underserved communities in Malaysia, in honor of World Food Day. The initiative, aimed primarily at students in refugee schools, homeless individuals, and members of the B40 group in Chow Kit, included Tropicana fruit drinks, Quaker 3in1 Cereal Drinks, Quaker Cookies, and Lay’s Potato Chips.

The distribution was conducted in two phases: in August, PepsiCo employees and their families prepared and distributed meals, while the second phase took place from October 16-23, focusing on food pack distribution. This effort aligns with PepsiCo’s commitment to improve nutrition access and resonates with this year’s World Food Day theme: “Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future.”

Aditya Ahuja, Commercial Director for PepsiCo Foods in Malaysia, emphasized the importance of food security and how the pandemic has exacerbated food insecurity in Malaysia. This initiative is part of PepsiCo’s broader PepsiCo Positive (pep+) mission, which focuses on sustainability and community support through its three pillars: Positive Agriculture, Positive Value Chain, and Positive Choices.

PepsiCo also sponsored the Coway Run on September 22, 2024, promoting healthier lifestyles with its Quaker brand products, providing samples to 7,800 participants. Mun Keong, founder of TASK, highlighted the significant impact of these partnerships in addressing food insecurity in vulnerable communities.
