The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra) is set to launch the bidding for Large Scale Solar 6 (LSS6) in Q2 2025, following the record-breaking LSS5, which awarded 2,000MW in December 2024. Additionally, a bidding round for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) will open in Q3 2025, offering 400MW/1,600MWh capacity. Both LSS6 and BESS are scheduled for operation in 2026.
Petra is also introducing the Community Renewable Energy Aggregation Mechanism (Cream), allowing homeowners to lease or rent out rooftop space for solar power generation. This initiative aims to expand residential solar adoption and follows the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS). The Energy Commission is finalizing implementation guidelines for Cream, with details to be announced soon.
