Despite a 4% dip in brand value to $13.8 billion, its reputation was bolstered by extensive community impact initiatives, hosting Energy Asia 2025, launching locally blended sustainable aviation fuel, and enhancing everyday consumer touchpoints like Setel and Mesra Rewards.

Meanwhile, Tenaga Nasional ranked as the third strongest utility brand worldwide, boosting its BSI score to 91.5 out of 100 with an AAA+ rating. Driven by high domestic familiarity—91% among Malaysian respondents—TNB’s ranking reflects strong trust built through essential power infrastructure, reliable services, and key government alignment.

Alex Haigh, Managing Director of Asia Pacific at Brand Finance, noted that the stellar performance of both companies demonstrates how reliability, trust, and clear transition strategies are key as investment capital increasingly shifts toward the Asia-Pacific region.

Across the global sector, Shell retained its title as the most valuable oil and gas brand at $51.8 billion, while State Grid Corporation of China led the utility category with a brand value of $102.4 billion.
