The Malaysian Security Industry Association (PIKM) has supported the Home Ministry’s prosecution of a couple providing security services without a valid license. PIKM president Datuk Mohammad Ubaidillah Enam warned that unlicensed security firms pose serious risks as they often employ undocumented workers who have not undergone security screening, compromising industry standards and public safety. He also highlighted that such firms create unfair competition by offering lower prices without adhering to regulations and operational costs.
PIKM emphasized the need for strict enforcement to protect the security industry’s integrity and called for amendments to the Private Agencies Act 1971 to penalize both illegal service providers and clients who hire them. This follows a Magistrate’s Court ruling that fined a security company director and her husband RM5,000 for operating without a license.
