Raub Durian Farmers Clash with Pahang Authorities Over Musang King Tree Felling
On April 10, three police reports were filed over clashes during enforcement actions against illegal durian orchards in Sungai Ruan, Raub. Raub District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Shahril Abd Rahman, said the Pahang State Enforcement Unit (UPNP) reported farmers for obstructing public servants under Section 186 of the Penal Code.
The scuffle erupted in Sungai Klau when UPNP, supported by police and other agencies, moved to fell Musang King trees. About 50 farmers, led by Save Musang King Alliance and MP Chow Yu Hui, blocked roads, protesting the destruction. Despite tensions, police and PGA Battalion 7 contained the situation without major incidents.
