GEORGE TOWN: A total of RM4bil has been disbursed under the government’s RM15bil “PowerUp 10K” financing initiative for the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector as of April this year, says Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Steven Sim said the financing had benefited more than 150,000 companies and entrepreneurs nationwide.
He said one of the ministry’s key performance indicators this year was to channel RM15bil into the MSME sector through various agencies under the ministry.
“As of the end of April, about RM4bil has been successfully disbursed,” he told reporters after officiating the Jualan Madani Koperasi and Karnival Keluarga programme at Persiaran Karpal Singh here on Sunday.
Sim said a one-stop portal would soon be launched to allow the public to monitor the financing progress, including updates on disbursements and participating agencies.
He added that agencies such as Tekun Nasional, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, SME Bank and Bank Rakyat continued supporting MSMEs and cooperatives.
