Qatar Airways to Counter Tariffs with Spares Stockpile, Eyes Airbus Fleet Focus

Qatar Airways counters tariffs with spares stockpile, plans Airbus A320 focus, and maintains stable ticket prices amid robust demand.

Qatar Airways is well-positioned to handle higher tariffs due to its substantial aircraft spares inventory, according to CEO Badr Al-Meer. Despite potential supply chain and cargo operation impacts, robust passenger demand will keep ticket prices stable. The airline faces challenges from US tariffs and rising spare parts costs but maintains strong US route sales.

Qatar Airways plans to streamline its single-aisle fleet to Airbus A320-family aircraft, phasing out leased Boeing 737s, and is eyeing a significant widebody purchase. The carrier will upgrade its A350s with the Q-Suite business-class suite, adapting to delays in Boeing’s 777X delivery.
