KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13, 2026: The ringgit closed higher against the US dollar and most major currencies on Monday, supported by positive market sentiment following the announcement of Budget 2027.

Ringgit higher

Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid said the budget reflected the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline, boosting investor confidence.

He noted that the ringgit performed positively despite rising external risks and elevated Brent crude oil prices. Concerns over escalating tensions in West Asia also remained in focus following a reported attack on an airport in Riyadh over the weekend.

The ringgit also gained against the Japanese yen, British pound and euro, while posting mixed performance against regional currencies.
