Robert Kuok Daughter, Kuok Hui Kwong Appointed CEO of Shangri-La Asia

Kuok Hui Kwong, daughter of Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok, has been appointed CEO of Shangri-La Asia effective August 1, while retaining her role as chairman to ensure unified leadership. The Harvard graduate, 47, has been chairman since 2017 and an executive director since 2016. She replaces Lim Beng Chee, who retired in 2022 but remains a non-executive director. Kuok holds 2.7% of the company’s shares and was ranked 40th on Fortune’s 2024 list of Asia’s most powerful women. Following the announcement, Shangri-La Asia’s shares rose 2.4%, though they remain down 14% this year.
