Scoot Launches Flights to Kota Bharu, Expanding Malaysian Network to 12 Cities

MALAYSIA — Scoot, the low-cost carrier under Singapore Airlines, has launched flight services to Kota Bharu, its 12th destination in Malaysia. The inaugural flight landed at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport on 26 October 2025 and was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute.

The airline will operate two weekly flights between Singapore and Kota Bharu using its new Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. The 112-seat jet offers a 2-2 configuration, quieter engines, and larger cabin windows for a more comfortable travel experience.

To mark the occasion, Tourism Malaysia and airport authorities held a welcome ceremony featuring cultural performances and souvenir giveaways for arriving passengers.

Scoot’s Chief Commercial Officer, Calvin Chan, said the new route strengthens Scoot’s presence in Malaysia and enhances regional connectivity, offering more travel options for residents along the country’s east coast. The carrier now serves key Malaysian cities including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, and Kuching.
