SCORE Marathon 2023 Celebrates 10 Years with Over 15,000 Runners
SCORE Marathon 2023 by AIA Vitality celebrated its 10th anniversary with an impressive turnout of over 15,000 runners. This iconic marathon featured various race categories, spanning distances from 5KM to 42KM, with winners receiving cash prizes totaling RM27,600. In addition to the traditional races, the event introduced an all-new Foam Run, adding a fun and bubbly twist to the 5KM run. The marathon aimed to promote an active and healthy lifestyle in Malaysia.
The event had strong support from AIA Vitality, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), and various sponsors. It also qualified as a race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors (AbbottWMM) Wanda Age Group, allowing participants to compete for a world ranking in this global marathon championship.
SCORE Marathon 2023 embraced sustainability by providing eco-friendly medals made from a combination of metal and recycled plastic waste. This step reflects SCORE’s commitment to responsible and sustainable event management.
Patricia Tan, Chief Executive Officer of SCORE, shared: “This year’s marathon was particularly special to us because it marked a decade of inspiring runners to have fun while taking full charge of their health! Just as the theme is ‘Make Your Mark: Conquer’, we wanted to encourage more people to challenge their personal limits and empower them in being the best, most confident version of themselves. With these ten years under our belt, SCORE will continue to advocate for Malaysians to lead a more active lifestyle, while innovating new experiences to last a lifetime.”
Looking ahead, SCORE plans to expand its marathon series internationally and continue to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle in Malaysia. With growing participation and support from ambassadors, SCORE aims to have a broader impact on well-being and vitality in the country.
The event marked a significant milestone in the Malaysian sports and active lifestyle scene and laid the groundwork for further development and expansion, including reducing waste and implementing eco-friendly practices in the coming years.
