Selangor Launches MamaKerja 2.0 to Support Working Mothers

Selangor has introduced MamaKerja 2.0, a childcare aid programme designed to ease financial burdens for working mothers. Eligibility can be checked via https://nineapp.com.my/mamakerja, with applications made through the NINE app.

Selangor women empowerment and welfare committee chairman Anfaal Saari said applicants must be working women who vote in Selangor, provide valid salary slips or income statements, and not be recipients of MamaKerja 1.0, Asuh Pintar, Tunas or BINGKAS. Priority will be given to mothers with children in registered kindergartens or caretakers trained under state programmes.

Aid worth RM1,000 will be distributed in two phases of RM500 each, credited to recipients’ e-wallets within 90 days of approval. MamaKerja 2.0 loosens earlier criteria, allowing mothers with at least one child aged six or below to apply, compared to MamaKerja 1.0 which required three children aged 12 or below. It also extends eligibility to households earning RM8,000 or below, targeting up to 10,000 women.

The initiative has received RM10.6 million in funding from the state budget and Selangor Resilience Package 2026. Implemented by Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS), it will be monitored in collaboration with UNICEF, which will help develop the MamaKerja+ framework for rollout in 2027.
