KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7, 2026 – The FBM KLCI rose 1.60 points, or 0.10%, to 1,633.35 on Tuesday, supported by selective buying in telecommunications, commodity-related counters and small-cap technology names. Market breadth turned positive, with 667 gainers against 456 losers, as sentiment tracked Wall Street’s technology-led rally and easing crude oil prices.
Technology (+3.12%) and Healthcare (+3.04%) led sectoral gains, while Finance (-0.38%) and Property (-0.29%) were the main laggards. Investors remained cautious ahead of Budget 2027, with elevated U.S. Treasury yields tempering risk appetite.
Tech Rally
Technical indicators show the index remains below the 1,650–1,660 resistance zone, with fragile support at 1,625. A break below could expose the benchmark to the psychological 1,600 level. Until a decisive breakout occurs, the near-term outlook remains weak, with Tuesday’s uptick seen as a temporary pause rather than a recovery.
