Tech Sector Maintains Neutral Outlook Despite Strong Global Semiconductor Growth

Analysts maintain a NEUTRAL rating on Malaysia’s technology sector, citing limited positive spillover effects to the local supply chain at present. Global Semiconductor Sales (GSS) reached record monthly highs in November 2025, fueled by surging AI applications and sustained demand for computing and data centre infrastructure.

This momentum is expected to persist into 2026, with the global semiconductor market projected to approach USD1 trillion in annual sales.

The CES 2026 showcased new AI chips from Nvidia, Intel, Qualcomm, and AMD. While global AI growth remains robust, analysts anticipate a stronger outlook for Malaysia’s semiconductor industry once physical AI enters mass production.
