NEW: The U.S.-China Currency Clash – A Battle for Economic Supremacy
Just recently, the White House officials defended rising tariffs despite growing public concern, especially after reports Amazon might show surcharge costs at checkout. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt lashed out, but Amazon denied the plan, and Trump later praised Jeff Bezos for resolving it.
Prices on Shein and Temu have surged following Trump’s 145% tariffs, with some items more than doubling. Shein raised beauty and kitchen product prices by over 50%, while Temu is now adding steep import charges at checkout for many products.
Some users are saying that it would be better to buy items that will not receive said import charges. But, social media users are concerned that some websites may not be allowed to show the actual breakdown charges, especially with Amazon’s recent scene with Trump.
Furthermore, social media users are informing MAGA supporters that even made in America products will receive tariffs. Tariffs are charged on raw foreign materials as well as products that are already assembled.
Others are finding it wildy ironic as President Trump is constantly flip flopping back and forth on the tariffs. Following that, X users feel that his supporters are blindly following whatever he says without any critical thinking skills.
There are some speculations that big retailers may be exempted from being tariffed in order to continue on the supply of goods in the United States. Users say that this is proof that the United States can’t live without products from China.
