The Cyber Games 2025, a global cybersecurity competition, began in Kuala Lumpur on May 20, 2025, with 120 participants from 40 countries tackling real-world cyber challenges. Hosted by Malaysia’s National Cyber Security Agency (Nacsa) and co-organized with the Council of Europe and Interpol, the event runs until May 23 and will be followed by regional editions in Europe and Africa. Digital Ministry secretary-general Fabian Bigar officiated the opening, emphasizing the event’s role in fostering resilience, cooperation, and innovation against cybercrime. The games aim to enhance experts’ skills in combating sophisticated, borderless cyberthreats, with Malaysia noting a 78% surge in ransomware cases in Q4 2024.
