As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, Malaysia is taking bold steps to fortify its digital landscape. The recently gazetted Cyber Security Act 2024 (Act 854) and the Cyber Security Bill 2024 establish a comprehensive framework to protect National Critical Information Infrastructure (NCII) and regulate cybersecurity service providers. Four accompanying regulations — covering incident reporting, audits, licensing, and enforcement — came into effect in August 2024, ensuring better oversight and accountability.
The National Cyber Security Strategy 2025–2030 adds a forward-looking dimension, focusing on prevention, intelligence, innovation, and public awareness. Initiatives like Cyber Games 2025 further highlight Malaysia’s drive to nurture local talent and strengthen international collaboration in cyber defense.
This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the message is clear: security is a shared responsibility. Every individual, organization, and government agency must play their part in safeguarding Malaysia’s digital future.
