Three Ministers to Be Reappointed as Senators Tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Three senior ministers will be sworn in for a fresh three-year term as senators in the Dewan Negara on Wednesday (Dec 3).

The ministers are Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

Appointed on Dec 3, 2022, following the formation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government after GE15, their initial terms officially ended this week.

Senators

According to the Dewan Negara Order Paper, the swearing-in ceremony is the first item of business on Wednesday. Sources confirmed only the three ministers will take the oath, with no other new senators involved. Earlier speculation of a Tuesday ceremony proved inaccurate as the Senate proceeded with regular business.
