Trump on trade deal with Indonesia
WASHINGTON: U.S. president Donald Trump said he is “not allowed” to run for a third term, citing constitutional limits despite claiming record popularity. (Trump’s ratings are at the lowest as we write.)
Speaking to reporters, Trump said his poll numbers are the highest of his career but acknowledged that the law bars him from seeking another term. When asked about remarks suggesting he was “trolling” with third-term comments, Trump dismissed them, calling the issue “very interesting.”
The U.S. Constitution’s 22nd Amendment limits presidents to two terms in office. Trump, already the Republican nominee for 2024, remains influential within the party.
