Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd, the private company behind the TuJu navigation app, has a sitting state assemblyman and a former inspector-general of police among its directors, Malaysiakini reported.
The company has come under scrutiny since Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged road users to switch from Waze to the local app on national security grounds.

The ex-LLM chairman
Prosignal’s website lists Selat Klang assemblyman Abdul Rashid Asari, a former Bersatu member, as an executive director. Rashid chaired the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) from June 2020 to August 2022. LLM signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Prosignal on 26 May 2022, while he was chairman.
Rashid told Malaysiakini the idea for the app was his. He said the LLM board approved his proposal, and only then did he invite Prosignal to do the project, without an open tender. He denied any political element and said Prosignal paid for the app itself.
It is not yet clear when Rashid joined Prosignal’s board. Public records have not yet shown whether he held any stake or other interest in the company when the deal was signed.
Prosignal’s website also lists former inspector-general of police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani as a non-executive director.
Who owns Prosignal
According to Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) records, Prosignal was incorporated on 17 August 2021, about nine months before the LLM deal. It has RM2 million in share capital:
- Edzreen Din, deputy chairman and managing director, holds 65 per cent.
- Kintan Bersama Sdn Bhd holds 30 per cent.
- Executive director Manan Amir holds 5 per cent.
The website previously listed Muhammed Abdullah, the Undang of Luak Johol in Negeri Sembilan, as group executive chairman, and Bashah A Aziz as a non-executive director. Both names have since been removed.
At the 2022 signing, Prosignal was represented by its then managing director, Mohd Azrul Fauzi Baharon. Edzreen, then executive chairman, was the witness.
Malaysiakini said it has asked Prosignal, LLM and Muhammed’s office for comment.
