US-China AI Rivalry Intensifies: Brains vs Bodies

WASHINGTON – The race for global dominance in artificial intelligence (AI) is heating up, with the United States and China locked in a fierce contest. Author Wynton Hall, speaking on NewsMax2, warned that China’s drive for AI supremacy by 2030 could reshape the world, citing risks of “battlefield full-spectrum dominance” in cybersecurity, missile systems, and infrastructure. He stressed the US must counter China “without becoming China,” avoiding authoritarian surveillance practices while remaining competitive.

US-China AI Rivalry

Economically, Hall noted that one-third of the S&P 500 is anchored by America’s “Mag Seven” tech giants, making AI leadership vital. He highlighted China’s massive semiconductor imports, surpassing even oil, as proof of its commitment to the sector.

Experts say the rivalry is divided into two fronts: “brains” and “bodies.” The US leads in AI brains—large language models (LLMs), microchips, and chatbots—while China excels in AI bodies, particularly humanoid robotics. Nick Wright of University College London explained that while China dominates robotic hardware and repetitive factory tasks, more complex agentic AI, which allows robots to act independently, remains America’s strength.

With both nations investing heavily, April 2026 underscores a defining moment in the global AI race—one that could shape military, economic, and societal futures.
