Vietnam Airlines to Finalize Boeing 737 MAX Order, Eyes 100 New Jets by 2035

NEW DELHI, June 2 – Vietnam Airlines will soon finalize a 2023 order for 50 Boeing 737 MAX jets, an executive told Reuters. The carrier aims to acquire 100 narrow-body aircraft by 2035 to expand and replace its fleet, driven by Vietnam’s need to boost US imports to avoid tariffs. While open to Airbus, delivery slot constraints limit options. The airline also signed a funding deal with Vietcombank for 50 planes, with the manufacturer undisclosed.
