PUTRAJAYA: The National Action Council on Cost of Living (Naccol) will soon decide on the continuation of the local white rice subsidy scheme, said Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
“We will make a final decision after discussions with Naccol, which is chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. A decision will be reached in the near future,” he said during the ministry’s monthly assembly on Wednesday (Aug 20).
The RM150mil scheme, running from March 1 to Aug 31, distributes 2.4 million 10kg bags of rice at RM26 each, benefiting 400,000 low-income households.
