Malaysian Workforce Faces Record Burnout, Calls for Flexibility
The 2024 Wellness at Work Report by Employment Hero reveals that burnout among Malaysian employees has reached a record high, with 67% reporting burnout in 2024, up from 58% in 2022. Millennials (69%) and Gen Z (64%) are the most affected.
The primary cause is poor work-life balance, with 55% rating theirs as poor or average. Notably, 58% of fully remote workers report better work-life balance compared to those in hybrid or in-office settings.
The report suggests that remote work and flexible arrangements could alleviate burnout and improve job satisfaction.
Despite the challenges, 52% of employees rate their employer’s commitment to wellbeing as above average, indicating a potential path forward through enhanced workplace flexibility.
