Xpeng Steps Up GX SUV Exports as Middle East Orders Top 3,000

Chinese EV maker Xpeng has begun volume shipments of its flagship GX SUV to the Middle East and Africa, with regional orders already above 3,000 before local pricing is set.

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has started shipping its flagship GX sport utility vehicle in volume to the Middle East and Africa, with orders in the Middle East alone already above 3,000 units even though overseas prices have yet to be announced, industry outlet CnEVPost reported on Saturday.

The NYSE-listed carmaker disclosed the milestone in a post on Chinese social media platform Weibo, according to the report. The company did not say how many vehicles were in the latest shipments, which markets they were bound for, or when customers would take delivery. Overseas shipments of the model began in August.

Xpeng – A fast-selling flagship

The GX, a full-size six-seat SUV offered in both battery-electric and extended-range versions, went on sale in China on May 20. Domestic prices range from 279,800 yuan (about US$41,620) to 359,800 yuan. Xpeng has not said which powertrains it is sending abroad.

The model has quickly become a volume driver. It passed 20,000 cumulative deliveries on August 31, and in September it accounted for 7,224 units, or roughly 17.5 per cent of the company’s monthly total, according to data compiled by CnEVPost and also cited by The Electric Viking.

Xpeng’s own figures, released on October 1, showed the company delivered 41,256 vehicles in September, up 5 per cent from August, and 118,390 vehicles in the third quarter, a 15 per cent increase over the previous quarter.

Overseas sales doubling

The export push comes as overseas markets take on a far larger role for the company. Xpeng sold 10,055 vehicles outside China in September, its first month above the 10,000 mark and roughly double the 5,004 it sold abroad a year earlier, according to CnEVPost.

Over the first nine months of 2026, overseas sales reached 59,479 units, up about 100 per cent year on year, and made up nearly 21 per cent of total deliveries, compared with under 10 per cent a year earlier. That growth has helped offset weakness elsewhere: total deliveries for January to September stood at 284,367, down 9.2 per cent from the same period of 2025, the same data show.

The GX expansion follows a string of international moves. Xpeng launched its G9L SUV for Europe at the Paris Motor Show on October 12 and has announced the arrival of its Mona L03 in Australia and New Zealand. The company has also set a goal of one million annual global sales by 2030, with half of that volume expected to come from Europe.

What’s next

Investors will be watching whether Xpeng can meet the target set by chairman and chief executive He Xiaopeng on the company’s August earnings call, when he said he expected overseas sales to exceed 40,000 units in the fourth quarter. That would require a sharp step up from September’s run rate of just over 10,000 a month.

Confirmation of GX pricing in the Middle East and Africa, and the pace at which the 3,000-plus regional orders convert into deliveries, will be the next markers of how far the flagship can carry the company’s overseas ambitions.
