At Youyiguan Port, or Friendship Pass, on the China-Vietnam border, a high-tech transformation is turning it into China’s first cross-border smart port, set for pilot operations in 2025.
Handling 1,500 vehicles daily, the port uses AI, 5G, and automated systems to streamline trade, boosting efficiency and cutting clearance times. In 2024, exports soared to $240 million, doubling prior figures.
Vietnamese driver Nguyen praises the upgrades: “Faster clearance means more deliveries – and higher earnings.” With a $145.49 million investment, the port’s digital overhaul promises 24/7 operations, strengthening China-ASEAN trade.
