60 Penang Educators Earn Globally Recognised Cheetah Chase Certification on Teachers’ Day

PENANG, 18 May 2026 – While Teachers’ Day is always marked with flowers, cakes and appreciation messages, 60 educators in Penang spent the day in running shoes, strategy circles and leadership challenges in a “pay it forward” initiative to strengthen the future of education.

The teachers from schools across Penang, took part in Leading the Leaders of the Future, a full-day experiential leadership programme organised by Futurefirst Solutions Sdn Bhd in collaboration with St Xavier’s Institution on May 16.

Participants were immersed in high-energy simulations, problem-solving activities, emotional intelligence exercises and team-based leadership missions designed to help educators navigate the rapidly evolving realities of modern classrooms.

RM360,000 Tribute to Educators

The initiative, valued at RM360,000, was a tribute to educators in conjunction with Teachers’ Day.

Its co-founder Shankar Nagalingam said teachers today are no longer just educators, but mentors, motivators and emotional anchors for a generation growing up in the age of artificial intelligence, digital overload and constant social change.

“Teachers carry far more than lesson plans. They are shaping confidence, resilience, critical thinking and emotional wellbeing in young people facing a very different world from even five years ago.

“A nation rises only as far as its teachers can lead. So on Teachers’ Day, we didn’t just want to celebrate teachers. We wanted to invest in them,” he said.

Reflective Leadership Exercises

Throughout the programme, teachers were seen cheering teammates through obstacle-based challenges, taking part in reflective leadership exercises and collaborative decision-making simulations aimed at strengthening communication, adaptability and trust.

The session featured Cheetah Chase, Futurefirst’s signature leadership development programme combining experiential learning with gamification. Participants completed six “Cheetah Sprints” focused on authentic leadership, emotional intelligence, resilience, teamwork, adaptability and continuous growth.

The programme is endorsed by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), United Kingdom, and has previously been conducted for corporations, youth groups and leadership teams.

Futurefirst Solutions said the initiative reflects its broader push towards nation-building through leadership development and human capital empowerment.

Meanwhile, co-founder Dr Chanthiran Veerasamy said the impact goes beyond the 60 teachers in the room.

“Train the teacher, and you multiply the leader. Every empowered educator influences hundreds, sometimes thousands, of young lives throughout their career.

“With AI reshaping learning environments and students facing increasing emotional and social pressures, teachers themselves need space to grow, recharge and rediscover leadership,” he added.

Several participants described the programme as refreshing and relevant, noting that educators are often expected to guide students through uncertainty without being given enough space to build their own leadership and emotional resilience.

Each participant received a CMI-endorsed certificate. Futurefirst Solutions said the initiative reflects its broader commitment to nation-building through leadership development and human capital empowerment.
