A local news portal today revealed that the American company BlackRock has invested RM24.7 billion in various Malaysian companies and government bonds.
The RM24.7 billion is divided into listed company equity investment of RM18.7 billion and bonds of RM7.9 billion.
The portal said that based on BlackRock’s list of investments in Malaysia, the banking sector is the top three entities it invests in, namely Public Bank at RM2.34 billion (2.75 percent), followed by Maybank at RM2.16 billion (1.88 percent) and CIMB at RM1.42 billion (2.07 percent).
Tenaga Nasional Berhad ranked fourth with an investment of RM8.6 million (1.32 percent), followed by Metal Aluminum at RM625 million (1.62 percent) and CelcomDigi at RM526 million (1.03 percent). Refer to the table below.
BlackRock also has the highest investment in Malaysian government bonds of RM2.53 billion, Petronas Capital RM2.52 billion, and bond issues of RM1.57 billion.
