Carbon emissions: Airlines allowed now to impose extra fees

Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook announces that Malaysian airlines will be allowed to impose extra fees to cover carbon emissions.

Loke emphasizes the need to balance environmental obligations with consumer interests to avoid burdening passengers or harming the aviation industry.

Amendments to regulations are required before airlines can implement these fees in Malaysia, unlike in Singapore where a green fuel levy will be imposed from 2026.
