The Malaysian Transport Ministry launched the Malaysia Aviation Decarbonisation Blueprint (MADB) to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 in the aviation sector. Transport Minister Anthony Loke highlighted that the blueprint provides guidelines for stakeholders to reduce emissions, as aviation contributes significantly to global CO2 levels.
The MADB outlines three key strategies: improving airline operations, air traffic management, and airport measures. Airlines will focus on newer technologies, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and carbon credits. The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities will lead the SAF initiative, while a steering committee will monitor the implementation of the outlined goals.
