In a heartwarming rags-to-riches tale, Chagee founder Zhang Junjie, 32, married Trina Solar heiress Gao Haichun, also 32, at a grand ceremony in Changzhou’s Zhongwu Hotel on December 15, 2025. The couple, who met at a young entrepreneurs’ event and registered their marriage in June, celebrated with a unique twist: rows of Chagee milk tea in various flavors, ice, and sugar levels replaced traditional alcohol, delighting guests.
Dressed in elegant red and gold traditional Chinese attire, the pair’s nuptials drew massive online buzz on Xiaohongshu, where attendees shared photos of the opulent banquet and branded gift boxes containing sweets and red Chagee cups.
Zhang, orphaned at 10 and born into poverty in Yunnan, started as a milk tea shop worker at 17 before founding Chagee in 2017. The premium brand, now with over 7,000 outlets after its 2025 Nasdaq IPO, made him a billionaire.
