Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil stated that the government required telecommunications companies interested in the tender to first sign a subscription agreement with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB).

“So far, five companies have successfully done this, and four of them are CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, and Telekom Malaysia,” Fahmi said after the launch of the Huawei Malaysia Supplier Ecosystem Convention 2024.

Fahmi noted that the decision on the tender will be based on the proposals submitted by these companies.

While the exact timeline for the announcement remains unclear, Fahmi mentioned that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is overseeing the process, and the decision is expected to be finalized within this year.
