KUALA LUMPUR, 6 March 2025 – CelcomDigi has emerged as Malaysia’s most valuable telecoms brand, with a brand value of USD1.7 billion, according to the latest Brand Finance Telecoms 150 2025 report. The company secured the 65th spot globally and was named the fifth strongest telco brand in the world, boasting a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 87.5 out of 100 and a AAA brand strength rating.
Since the Celcom-Digi merger in 2022, the company has made strides in network integration, service quality enhancements, and expansion in the postpaid and home fibre segments, reinforcing its industry leadership.
Following CelcomDigi, Maxis ranked second among Malaysian telco brands, climbing five spots globally to 71st place with a brand value of USD1.5 billion (up 10%) and a BSI score of 80.5. Meanwhile, Unifi entered the global rankings for the first time at 95th place, with a brand value of USD782 million and a BSI score of 83.7.
Commenting on Malaysia’s telco sector, Alex Haigh, Managing Director Asia Pacific, Brand Finance, stated:
“Malaysia’s telecoms sector reflects both strategic evolution and market volatility, with celcomdigi’s ascent underscoring the power of consolidation and innovation. While Maxis and TM navigate emerging business complexities, Unifi and U Mobile are capitalising on digital transformation and 5G expansion.”
Other Malaysian telco brands also featured in the rankings, with TM seeing a 19% decline in brand value to USD495 million, dropping to 114th place globally, while U Mobile grew 5% to USD333 million, ranking 135th after being appointed Malaysia’s second 5G network provider.
The rankings highlight the highly competitive and rapidly evolving nature of the Malaysian telecoms industry, with 5G expansion, digital transformation, and customer experience expected to be key drivers of future growth.
