Fake Property Scam: Singapore Couple Jailed for Cheating Woman’s Lover of S$220,000

Eric Ong Chee Wei, 50, was sentenced to two years and four months’ jail for conspiring with his wife, Felicia Tay Bee Ling, 49, to cheat her then-boyfriend, David Tan, of S$220,000 through a fake property investment scheme. Ong must also pay S$210,000 compensation or serve an extra 105 days in jail. Tay, who acted on Ong’s instructions, received two years and one month’s jail. From September to November 2015, Tay convinced Tan to invest in seven condominium units that did not exist, promising over S$1.7 million returns. Tan realised he was cheated in early 2016 and they broke up in 2017.
