KUALA LUMPUR – The long-awaited Gig Workers’ Bill 2025 will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat for its first reading on August 14, providing a legal framework to recognise and protect gig workers in Malaysia. Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the second reading and debate will take place on August 26, with only a simple majority needed for it to pass. He announced this during a casual “Teh Tarik” session with gig industry players organised by the Human Resources Ministry on Thursday.
