Government Expands Budi Diesel Quota for Pick‑Up and Jeep Owners
PUTRAJAYA, July 5 – Nearly 200,000 owners of diesel pick‑up and jeep vehicles nationwide have been approved for an additional 100 litres of subsidised diesel per month under the Budi Madani Diesel (Budi Diesel) programme, the Finance Ministry announced. This raises the monthly quota from 200 litres to 300 litres starting July, benefiting over 174,000 recipients in Peninsular Malaysia and more than 22,000 in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.
The ministry said the expansion takes into account higher fuel consumption among pick‑up and jeep owners, including small businesses and those travelling to rural areas. Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan noted the allocation would help families and entrepreneurs manage their diesel needs, stressing that these vehicles are often used to earn a living.
Since its rollout on June 27 in Peninsular Malaysia and July 1 in East Malaysia, more than 238,000 users have benefited, with 336,000 transactions recorded involving 12.6 million litres of subsidised diesel worth RM23 million.
To address ownership issues, the government introduced a quota‑transfer facility via the Budi Madani portal, alongside a three‑month exemption on transfer fees beginning July 1, 2026. Over 2,000 applications have already been received.
