The Gucci GG Marmont Belt Re-Spiking In Popularity After Brand Declining?

The discussion of Gucci’s downfall has sparked a number of debates on social media. However, according to a social media page, they state that the brand’s iconic Marmont line is regaining in popularity again. The line was introduced by their former Creative Director, Alessandro Michelle back in 2015.

According to Vogue, the logos are coming back, and the “quiet luxury” aesthetics are taking a back seat. Celebrities like Bella Hadid and Irina Shayk are reviving logo belts like the Gucci Marmont belt, making them statement pieces once again.

The trend, highlighted by Troye Sivan’s Prada belt and Zoe Saldaña’s bold Chloé accessory at the Met Gala, suggests a return to conspicuous branding, albeit worn as a singular focal point to maintain a balance between flashy and chic.

Gucci’s GG Marmont belt re-spiking in popularity again?

Instagrammer Databutmakeitfashion states that there are several more posts on X daily regarding the belt. They add that the trend of this belt coming back is possibly the next big thing in fashion this season. However, commenters on the post are doubtful of the actual rise in popularity for these items.

The belt itself has had a significant price increase from its original debut back in 2015. It used to cost around USD$350 in 2019, the same exact belt will now set you back around US$540. The prices have almost doubled in the last 6 years.

Unfortunately for Gucci, most publications are calling the belt as “tacky” and “gaudy” as the logos are prominent. There are apparently dupes of the belt on places like Shein and PrettyLittleThings.

However, the design is arguably done well as the brand is still relying on their iconic look till this day. Prior to the price increases, the Marmont line has unfortunately seen an oversaturation of people buying it as an entry to the world of luxury fashion.

The logo looks rather similar to the iconic Chanel CC logo, or the Balenciaga BB logo. It appears that these brands are all fighting for a space in your wardrobe with their respective logos.
