KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — The IKO Malaysia Open 2025 returned to PassionFit Gym, The LINC KL, bringing together 107 athletes from 14 regions in what has become Malaysia’s premier international kettlebell championship. Hosted by the Bunga Raya Kettlebell Club (BRKC), the event featured 120 lifts under the IKO format, where athletes aimed to complete maximum repetitions within 10 minutes using kettlebells ranging from 8kg to 32kg.
Tournament director Ritzal Shawn said the competition, now an annual fixture, reflects the growing local community and hopes it will one day feature in SUKMA and the Olympics. The championship was powered by Pro Kettlebell, used exclusively in Asia by BRKC.
Highlighting the event was the participation of IKO founder and world champion Denis Vasilev, who praised Malaysia’s growing kettlebell scene, alongside first-time Malaysian guest Corissa Sivorot, who lauded the country’s potential as a regional hub for the sport.
