KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 — Malaysia Airlines has announced adjustments to its flight schedules between August 26 and 31, 2025, in response to a temporary airspace closure around Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for Malaysia’s 68th Merdeka celebrations.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that the restricted airspace will be in effect daily from 8am to 12 noon during the six-day period. The move is part of heightened security and operational measures for the national celebrations.
In a statement on its website, Malaysia Airlines said the revised schedule will affect both departing and arriving services at KLIA. The airline did not disclose the total number of impacted flights but published a list of affected services by date.
“Passengers departing at KLIA are advised to arrive at the airport four (4) hours ahead of their rescheduled departure time to allow sufficient time for check-in procedures and the necessary document checks at various touchpoints,” the airline said.
It also urged travellers to ensure they carry all required travel documents and to check official sources for updated entry and exit requirements of their destinations.
The airline added that passengers will be notified directly of changes to their itineraries and encouraged to verify their flight status through the Malaysia Airlines website or mobile app.
