KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia Airlines has warned customers that personal data may have been exposed following a cybersecurity breach at Amadeus, the third-party vendor operating its reservation system. The potential exposure affects customer information processed between August 2023 and September 2026.
The national carrier clarified that its internal IT infrastructure was not compromised and confirmed there is currently no evidence indicating financial data was accessed.

While Amadeus disclosed the unauthorized access last month—affecting several major Asian carriers—Malaysia Airlines has not specified the total number of impacted passengers or the exact categories of compromised personal data.
“The privacy and protection of our customers’ information remain our foremost priority,” the airline stated, adding that it is working closely with Amadeus to assess the incident’s full scope. Malaysia Airlines urged customers to remain vigilant against suspicious or unsolicited communications, warning that leaked information is often exploited for targeted phishing attempts.
